Fascinating. This was such a great historical deep dive. I was a millennial raised on Spice Girls mania, but somehow never realized how short a time frame the band was actually together!

They had such a big impact on pop culture (& my own childhood) that in my head they were together (publicly) & releasing albums for 8 years at least. This is my first time learning the deep backstory of how the band was formed.

I feel a bit bad for Bob 🥲. Crazy that he/Heart paid for the Spice Girls formation (& put them together in the first place) but didn’t have rights to their first real album/contract. Clearly the group was right about being ready to go public & make $$ though
